From 2005 to 2016 Stefan Goldmann provided production to some of the leading labels at the time. 'IOU' collects these tracks, previously released by Perlon, Cocoon, Mule Electronic and Innervisions. 'Sleepy Hollow', 'Phraselab' and 'Yes To All' were all crucial offerings at a time when the scene was looking for a path leading beyond minimal techno.

IOU also contains material produced under a contract with Music Man Records under the Barricade moniker, produced in 2004 and 2005, but which remained unreleased at the time due to rejection by the label. These tracks are 'Radar Opaque', 'Aleko' and 'Frantic', which saw the light of day with a delay of several years. 'Blood' and 'Phraselab' were also produced for the Barricade project, but where released by Perlon instead.
